Richard G. Allison, Ph.D.
Dr. Allison is a Senior Scientific Advisor to the Life Sciences Research Organization. He was Science Officer and Executive Director of the American Society for Nutrition from 1984 until 2006. Prior to this, he was a Senior Staff Scientist with LSRO. Dr. Allison earned a B.S. in biochemistry at the Pennsylvania State University (University Park, PA) and a Ph.D. in nutrition at the University of California at Davis. Dr. Allison's primary research interests have been in the area of protein chemistry. He has authored numerous papers on a variety of food and nutrition-related topics for the Department of Agriculture's Human Nutrition Information Service and the Food and Drug Administration's Bureau of Foods. He was honored with an FDA Commissioner's Special Citation in recognition of outstanding scientific contributions to public health in human nutrition and the safety of food substances through his work on food ingredients Generally Recognized as Safe. Dr. Allison is a member of ASN, the Council of Engineering and Scientific Society Executives and the Institute of Food Technologists.
